Did you know that I really like Simyan? Of course you do; I said as much 2 weeks ago. Well, I don't feel the same about this team. Chaos Pact is a team that has a lot of potential for the Huge Jackedman. Other than that? It inevitably dives into the worst sort of min-maxing that Blood Bowl can achieve.
|0-1||Dark Elf Renegade||6||3||4||8||Animosity||AGM(PS)||70K|

|0-1||Troll||5||5||1||9||Really Stupid, Loner, Throw Team Mate, Always Hungry, MIghty Blow, Regeneration||S(GAPM)||110K|

Aside from the linemen, Chaos Pact is a team with nothing but one-offs, all of whom hate each other and all of whom have mutation access. The Dark Elf can do Dark Elf things, which with mutation access makes it effective indeed. The Goblin can do Stunty things, with much the same results. The Skaven can die I guess? It's a bit of a weak link on the team, but with mutations on normals anything is possible.
As for the Big Guys, this team has 3 of them. The Ogre is good and the Troll and Minotaur are not. Take them all if you want to say you have 3 Big Guys, but probably pass on the non-bone head loners if you can.
the gimmick of Chaos Pact is their diverse roster, but the power lies somewhere else. To understand this team, you need to understand The Marauder.
The Game of Power
With a stat-line of 6338 for 50K, a rookie Marauder is literally identical to a human lineman. With normal access to every skill group aside from agility though? A developed Marauder has the potential to be one of the most cost-effective players in the game.
Do you want to play ClawPOMB? You can do it in a 110K player, 10K less than Chaos and at parity with underworld. What about doing the Dwarf thing? Block, Guard and Mighty Blow will run you exactly the same amount, and for the same TV as that Longbeard with Guard and Mighty Blow, only you also get a point of agility and 2 points of movement in exchange for the less needed Dwarf Skills.
What if you want to handle the ball? Good news! You have P access on normals so you can build the ball carrier of your dreams! Pretty much the only thing you need to watch out for is animosity on your Dark Elf, the other best player on your team. He'll be picking up the ball on a two-plus anywhere on the field in a few levels, but he doesn't love throwing the ball to his teammates. Fortunately, he has no issues with receiving, meaning you can still easily pass and score.
The moral of the story? Having normal access to everything is kinda overpowered, and not in the fun way AGI 4 on stunty. It might be manageable on a positional, but it's pure insanity on a lineman.
The other upshot is that there is true suffering in the future of a Chaos Pact coach who seeks out to make an optimally TV efficient team. Just imagine all the suffering of early Chaos, only without a strength advantage to carry you through. It's almost enough to make up for the misery they'll inflict on everyone else. Almost.
Wrapping Things Up
I don't love Chaos Pact, but I'm still excited to have them in BB2, if only to see the mayhem they cause in the REBBL's many one-day tournaments (how many teams can say that they are make for the Huge Jackedman AND the Chaos Cup!?). Check them out some time. Think up your own TV-optimal dream, then scowl in frusteration as you realize just how many level ups you need to reach it.
Suggestions Wanted: As it turns out, there are not that many official teams still left out of BB2, so I'd like to hear some of YOUR suggestions. Do you want to see me write an article about a secret league team? Do you have a place in your heart for Stunty Leeg? Or are you a would-be designer yourself?
Whatever the case, I'd like to look at a new, existing team bye-weekly. Please feel free to suggest your favourites teams outside of BB2 and if it catches my eye I'll happily include it in a future article.
