Greetings masochistic heathens! The inaugural Challengers Cup has been decided and REL has shown it’s continued dominance! I am very pleased to be able to bring you our first Challengers Cup Champion and new member of the exclusive REL 1 club: Thessa
First off, the whole idea behind this is to get to know the people we are playing with so on that note: tell me as much about yourself as you are comfortable sharing! Hobbies, career, relationships, where you have lived- whatever!
Thessa: I live in province of Québec, Canada. I teach chemistry in College (when I dont play Bloodbowl). Three kids, the youngest is 17 now, that makes me old! I've been happily married for 27 years. Other than Bloodbowl, I love chess, role playing games and wargames. At the moment, I am quite absorbed with Napoleonic type of wargames.
Pineapple on pizza? Yes or no
And if no how are you currently treating your obvious psychosis?
T: Nah, awful, I'm a rather classic kind of guy. I prefer strawberries (on pizza). But then we dont grow pineapple in Québec!
How did you find Blood Bowl and ReBBl respectively?
T: I'm old, so I started playing BB when it came out as a boardgame. Of course, when the electronic version came out, I started playing that as well. As for Rebbl, I was looking for a good league in North America after playing a long time in a french league (Franco Bowl). The scheduling was difficult as you can imagine. I think it was Chabxxu that told me about Rebbl. I immediately liked it.
It was an amazing run to the Challenger Cup victory. How did you feel going into the final?
T: Great! I actually felt less pressure than in quarter and semi final. I was satisfied to have reached the final and there was no question I was going to play to win no matter what. For instance, when I got a CW badly hurt at the beginning of the game, I used the apo right away even though that CW was armor busted already. That meant that another good player could be hurt subsequently and that my apo would be gone, but who cares? It was the final and how many times will you make the final? The same kind of choice was much more difficult in quarter and semi final. And incidentally, a blodge/guard/stand firm CW was injured later during the game and lost -1 AV 🙂
Any other matches stand out on your run or during the regular season?
T: During the regular season, certainly. My game against Stoobings. At that time, I was a close second behind him and the game went really well until turn 15. He frankly had about no chance to tie that game, but then tried two crazy actions on turn 15 and then on turn 16. Everything worked, he got the tied and even injured a CW (block/guard) that got -1 av. For those who did not see the end of that game, it's worth watching. That secured Stoobings first place in REL 3C
Any thoughts or predictions going into this season?
T: Prediction? Of course I'll make the playoffs finishing first in REL 1 and then I'll go undeafeated in the playoffs to win back to back the Challenge's Cup and Rebbl's playoffs. What a silly question!! 🙂
I like the confidence! Best of luck!
Next week I will have words with the Bad Seed himself: AGrain in a SupebOwl Special in addition to the regular scheduled programming.
