Dark Elves, the most evil of all Elves. In addition to their linemen they have 4 different positionals, of which only 2 are regularly used. They are a bloaty but efficient team that can outspeed bash teams, outbash speed teams and generally stay on the pitch long enough to play against their opponents’ weaknesses.
Now let’s see how we can screw it up.
|0-2||Witch Elf||7||3||4||7||Dodge, Jump Up||GA(PS)||110K|
Loner, Disturbing Presence, Two Heads, Mighty Blow, Really Stupid, Prehensile Tail, Multi Block, Regeneration
We have made two changes to the team. The biggest by far is that we’ve taken the best parts of the Assassin and Blitzer and mashed them together into one super player! The goal here is simple: Make Dark Elves use stab! By giving the assassin the stat line of the blitzer, it becomes better at shadowing, better at not being killed and better at scoring. It does increase the Assassin’s cost somewhat, but it was already arguably an overpriced player. 100K is more reasonable at this stat range, particularly given point two: No more Blitzers.
It is fair to say that this roster replaces the blitzer with the assassin, which is now a much more important player for making plays and protecting the Witch Elves. If there’s one downside here, it’s that the Runner still doesn’t have much going for it, but there’s just not much that can be down without either sacrificing the thing that makes it unique or bloating its cost beyond use.
That brings us to the second big change: THE HYDRA! Metal has probably corrupted me, but every team should have a big guy, and this one...is actually pretty good? It’s definitely not a must-have, but it’s a reasonable inclusion on some teams and a real case for consideration in the Huge Jackedman.
More Stabbing Please
This version of the Dark Elf team is a little less durable at level 1, having lost several players who start with block, but is just as fast. As a rookie team it might struggle a little more against bashy teams, but it makes up for that with the ability to introduce stabby death to anything with AV7. This team still relies heavily on making plays with the Witch Elves, but the way it enables those plays is by using much dirtier tactics compared to the original team.
The more developed version of this team can also recruit the Hydra for some serious muscles. With Multiblock, Prehensile Tail and Disturbing Presence, it is a powerful weapon against other agility teams. Against bashy teams it’s a potent source of guard, with regen to help protect it against claw teams that might be looking to claim a trophy.
Wrapping things Up
Is this version of the team better? Debatable. Is it more fun? Absolutely. I wouldn’t mind coming back to this team to make the Runner a little more appealing, but that’s a problem for another day. The biggest thing I’m worried about is how it might perform against clawless bash teams. Will the Assassins be useless? Will stab prove surprisingly effective? Or will Elves do elf things and it won’t really matter? I genuinely don’t know, but I’d like to.
Team Builder when?
